Old Yang Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a well known whole body excercise sytem from China. Practised at higher levels it can be used as one of the most effective combat systems.

Most of us are familiar with its slow, graceful flowing movements which bring multiple and profound health benefits to the internal organs, soft tissues, entire body systems, bones, and structural alignments of our bodies thus forming a complete approach to movement. And for these reasons thousands of people worldwide are practicing and continually gaining and maintaining health and vitality with age.

Nei Gong exercises are presented as a warm up to each class inorder to compliment & facilitate with the internal mechanics of all parts of the body while stretching, opening up and developing whole body motion during the movements of the form. The movements of Tai Chi are accompanied by standing exercises, which with regular practice incrementally aid in developing structural/postural 'strength' & 'integrity' (tensegrity) throughout the entire body. These postures can also help release deep underlying tension locked away in the joints and soft tissues and which contribute to the majority of our physical imbalances, stiffness and pain.

Tai Chi is for all ages and can be used to build strong and supple bodies as well for those looking to return from injury or ill-health. It can be used as a stand alone system of physical expression which can also be used as a corrective set of exercises for body imbalances, releasing physical tension and, in my personal experience, the most effective tool for countering fatigue, stress and promoting vitality. It has a tremendously calming influence on the mind and thus is a highly effective tool for the regulation and balance of a fully healthy and integrated body.

20 minutes practice a day can really enhance the quality of your life.
