Shiatsu
Japanese Bodywork
What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu literally means finger pressure in Japanese and is an ancient therapeutic bodywork with its roots in Japanese and Chinese natural healthcare systems.
The techniques used include gentle manipulations, pressure with the palms of the hands, elbows and knees as well as point work with fingers and thumbs to balance the life flow of energy through the body’s meridians (energy pathways).
Physical and emotional illnesses are regarded as an imbalance of Ki (the universal energy life force) and it is the Shiatsu practitioner’s role to help relieve presenting conditions, restore the equilibrium between the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of the individual and support the client to achieve long-term well-being.
The sensations you may feel during and after the treatment are:
deep relaxation, inner calmness, renewed vitality
Recommendations (which could be exercise, dietary, breathing etc.) may be made to support you in sustaining the benefits of your treatment.
