Physiologically our body tissues spiral and twist in their relationships with one another from head to toe. Thus all parts are connected and therefore the participation in Integrated movement (whole body exercise) which reciprocates this lengthening, spiraling and twisting, is a very natural activity which literally begins to amalgamate the entire body from deep within and thus has a transformative effect on the Organ tissues and function (organ massage) as well as the connective tissue, musculature and skin. This is in complete contrast to general principles of linear stretching, locking of the skeletal structure, forced contraction of the musculature and strain of the breath.
Dragon and Tiger movements open up the body and are smooth and continuous, promoting release and lengthening bringing us closer to the vitality we once experienced through whole body connection.
Dragon and Tiger reputedly has a tradition going back some 1500 years to the Shaolin Monastery. This Qi Gong was introduced to the West by Bruce Frantzis and subsequently passed on by personal Instruction to Chris Ray Chappell, (who taught me) Principal of the Real Taoism Studio, East London, who has been training and certifying instructors since 1997, having been trained in the methods of Bruce Frantzis since 1988.
This superb low impact Qi Gong, comprising of seven movements, is flowing and graceful and has far reaching implications as a health enhancing technology. The practice of this Qi Gong can yield a tremendous return in a little amount of time. If you are looking for one practice to invest in to boost your energy and health without too many complications then this set may be the one for you. Like all Qi Gong, practice should be comfortable, balanced and relaxed. This is a true way to develop Health, Flexibility and Power.
D&T can be used for the ease of chronic conditions such as arthritis, repetitive strain injury, fibromyalgia, neck, spinal & hip imbalances, and chronic fatigue. Regular practice will greatly increase your balance and flexibility and is a fantastic aid to those suffering from poor circulation as it stimulates the acupuncture meridians under the skin. It is widely used in China as an aid to cancer treatment and such is its effectiveness that it the movements can be carried out standing, sitting or even supine. Over time deeper breathing can be established in co-ordination with the movements thus directly affecting vitality and energy levels, alongside generation of power and strength.
The movements of D&T also work deeply with the structural alignments of the body as the gentle movements progressively help to co-ordinate and stabilise both sides of the body, allowing the practitioner to gradually release and ‘let go’ of deep held tensions lying under the conscious radar, which can excessively and prematurely activate the nervous system bringing forth physical and mental imbalance.
Benefits of Dragon & Tiger:
•Increased internal organ function & motility
•Reduction of internal stagnation in the organs, fluids and tissues
•Turbo Charged Energy Levels
•Lowers & Balances Heart Rate and Blood Pressure
•Promotes Calmness of Mind and entire Nervous System
•Enhanced simultaneous Balance and co-ordination of both sides of the body
•Improved Flexibility & movement of the joints and ligaments
•Optimum blood and lymph circulation
•Release of unwanted tensions and holding patterns
•Whole Body Core Strength (Legs, Hips, Spine, Torso, Arms & Neck)
•Efficient synergy between the Body Systems
