KMI

Kinesis Myofascial Integration - Structural Bodywork

What is Structural Bodywork

Structural bodywork is a method of hands on deep tissue work. The bodyworker and the receiver work together in active collaboration to effect a change in the posture, structure and function of the body. We use a whole body strategy that takes advantage of recent scientific discoveries in the way that the fascia (connective tissue) works in the human form. We as bodyworkers help you correct any imbalance which may impede postural function and so enhance your awareness and ability to be well in your body.

Posture

Poor posture over time leads often to chronic patterns of habitual tension that often lead to muscle pain, joint dysfunction, headaches, constipation, sleep disorders, chronic fatigue, loss of vitality and libido.

KMI

KMI stands for Kinesis Myofascial Integration. KMI is a method of bodywork, which has been developed by American Tom Myers, Author of Anatomy Trains (Elsevier 2001) see website: www.anatomytrains.com.

My Training in Structural Bodywork

I have trained directly with Tom Myers, James Earls and Carrie Gaynor and received professional certification as a structural bodyworker and offer this method alongside my Internal Arts Exercise.

The 3-Series

A typical session involve taking a medical history and finding out what you want form the sessions. We then take a body reading from four directions, it is helpful for the work that we take photo’s, but this is not completely necessary but can be helpful, you may choose to not to to opt for this. (all client details are strictly confidential) From this, we can put together strategy of treatment to address your specific pattern of fascial (connective tissue restriction).

It is a fact that pain experienced in one area of the body can be the result of a whole body restriction along myofascial lines, meaning that the strategies we employ do not always work the site of the pain but instead the associative contributory factors. We will discuss the impact of the previous session and progressively work our strategy to a conclusion.

The work is conducted with the receiver in their underwear, males in shorts or swimming trunks, females in underwear and a bra or a two piece swimsuit.

Blankets are available if necessary. We look forward to working with you.

Why 3 Sessions?

There is a reason for providing KMI in a block of three sessions. This stuctural work is deep and will only work properly when the whole body receives treatment in this way. After the three initial sessions, which have to be done in close order, top-up sessions can be given to keep the changes in place long-term.

Payment & Booking Guidelines

The 3 initial sessions need to be pre-paid and pre-booked to ensure that you get the best out of your sessions.

3 sessions cost £120 - introductory offer

(from February 2010 the cost will be £170)

Sessions last 75 minutes.
